UA Curry Flow 10 Performance Reivew

Many fans expected the brand-new Curry signature shoes for a long time. Curry Flow 10 has been released on the new sports competition season.

Appearance:

As it’s Curry’s 10th generation signature shoes, Curry Flow 10 is significant. Curry Flow 10’s colorway pays homage to colorways which have been released on previous generations. Such as the first released colorway is ‘iron sharpens iron’ which has been released by Curry 2. And it also released the ‘Sour Patch Kid’, ‘More Magic’, ‘Northern Light’ and other colorways. The insole of  Curry Flow 10 is also white. The X on the vamp represents that it’s the 10th generation signature shoes. The outboard Curry logo is not printed in, but it’s tridimensional.

Comfort Level:

Since Flow technology was developed, it’s used on Curry’s personal series, from Curry Flow 8 to Flotro series shoes. And the new released Embiid 1 also used the FLOW insole technology. The Flow insole technology is comfortable and has excellent traction performance. It’s always popular. Curry Flow 10 uses full-length Flow insole. The UA WARP material vamp is light and elastic. It covers the foot like socks. The cushion performance of Curry Flow 10 is better then Curry Flow 9. But the cushion of insole is not the center of gravity of Curry series shoes.

The UA WARP vamp and Flow sole design reduce the weight. The unit weight of US9.5 is about 350g. It’s 20g lighter than Curry Flow 9. The shoe tongue and shoe heel has leather pull-tab design. The cushion of Flow insole is enough for running and jumping. But the cushion not enough under big impulsion.

Protection:

Curry Flow 10 is low type. The shoe tree is almost the same as Curry Flow 9. It’s half sole is round and wide. The position of half sole is a little empty. The Flow extends upward in the arch position for improving the lateral supporting performance. It adds stiff TPU plate on the outboard heel position to reinforce support. The insole adds a piece of long anti-rollover plate. The WA WARP material is light, but also can offer good support. The overall supporting performance of Curry Flow 10 is strong, but not effect flexibility. The outrigger design on half sole is also made of Flow material, which not only can offer comfort level, but also has enough strength to offer stability.

Durability:

The traction performance is the best advantage of Flow. The traction performance is excellent. But as the traction performance is too strong, it can stop quickly, so it’s easy to twist the ankle. So the Curry Flow 10 adjust the pattern of outsole to keep the excellent traction performance and can offer buffer to protect the feet. After playing the basketball on indoor court some time, it still keep the good traction performance, but the outsole has obvious abrasion. So I tested it to outdoor court.

It’s surprise that the traction performance of outdoor court is worse than indoor court, maybe the outdoor court more dust and impurities, so that the FLOW sole can’t touch the ground directly. It doesn’t have big abrasion after testing a few times.

Overall:

As it uses the Flow insole technology, the Curry series shoes don’t have big difference. Flow is almost the representative of Curry. If you like running and flexible playing way, the traction performance and stability are the main considerations in your choice of basketball shoes, you will love Flow series shoes. Curry 11 should still uses FLOW. Hope that UA can change the density or thickness of Flow in the future to make the insole to match different players’ styles.

UA HOVR SONIC 6 Performance Review

The main characteristics of UA HOVR Sonic series shoes are lightweight and flexible. The unit weight of men’s size US9 UA HOVR SONIC 6 is only about 281g. It’s known as the lightest HOVR running shoes. The vamp is made of one-piece engineering mesh fabric. The vamp of HOVR SONIC 6 is light, and cover the feet well. The big ventilated holes offer excellent air permeability. It’s very suitable for running in Summer. The external TPU plate on the shoe heel offer good stability and support. Both sides of the TPU plate has embossed UA logo.The structure of insole is the key point to decide if a pair of running shoes is comfortable and if it can help the runners to run faster. The HOVR insole of HOVR SONIC 6 is increased about 20%, which offer the soft suspension to the runners. And HOVR can offer more resilient energy than traditional EVA foaming material. It offers good cushion performance and fast feedback. No matter long-distance running, interval running or daily jogging, you can trust HOVR SONIC 6.

UA HOVR Phantom 2 Performance Review

When talking about the midsole cushioning, the first thing that comes to my mind is the classic Nike Zoom X , Asics’s Gel cushioning and  Adidas’s Boost. Then speaking of Under Armour, what do you think of? Actually,  not much is known about its running shoe technology by a lot of people. But as a matter of fact, way back in 2018, Under Armour has launched its new midsole cushioning technology, the UA HOVR. And in August 2020, the UA Hovr Phantom with the new tech has also come to the second version. That is the UA HOVR Phantom 2 .

The UA HOVR Phantom 2 I received here is the entirely black one. It looks quite pure and at the same time very cool. And the first glance at the shoe has made me obsess with it. But if you don’t like this colorway, there are as well other options for you. There are indeed the red, orange, green, white one which are all very fashionable and can very well match our daily dressings.

In terms of the vamp, it is made of an integrated fabric material coupled with the elastic collar, the whole designed like a sock . And thanks to this design, the shoe has a very excellent wrapping and it wraps my feet nicely, and I feel very comfortable wearing the shoes. Simply put, it hugs my feet tightly, thus offering me an excellent stability. What is even better is that the shoe wears so comfortably that I can even wear it without wearing socks.

For a pair of  running shoes, its air permeability is also an important performance index. And for a pair of running shoes to stand out, its air permeability should be excellent. Very chunky as the UA Hovr Phantom 2 looks, it is  actually quite breathable. It has many holes that extend from the toe to the tongue, providing enough ventilation. And of course, in order to ensure adequate stability, the middle and back of the shoe is made of a high-density, inelastic material, which connects naturally the two parts.

The UA HOVR Phantom 2’s biggest upgrade from the previous version is the full-foot UA HOVR cushioning system, which is comprised of an outsole support pad, the UA HOVR foamed sole, the molded midsole veneer, the all-rubber outsole with a powerful grid pattern. Therefore, with the help of this tech, you can experience a rebound  quite different from that brought by other brands. The feedback during running is obvious and sufficient. And as for the outsole, it offers excellent grip and wear resistance, which actually makes the shoes strong and durable.

With respect to the  SpeedForm 2.0 insole which is not mentioned earlier, it is also comfortable as well as adding breathability. Besides, you might have noticed the collar at the heel which makes it easier for me to put on and take off the shoes .

Overall:

What needs to be mentioned here is that since there is no traditional shoe tongue, you’d better tie your shoelaces very tightly before running. Overall, the UA Hovr Phantom 2 is good for jogging and casual training. And if you happen to be considering purchasing the shoes, chances are that you’ll be obsessed with it whose synonyms are comfortable, stable and durable.
